This week, Tesoro Preschool became a passport to the world.
The Around the World theme gave our Tesoritos a chance to explore different countries, cultures, foods, landmarks, and traditions, building the kind of global curiosity that is at the heart of everything Tesoro stands for.
For a dual language immersion program, a world cultures theme is a natural fit. The children at Tesoro are already doing something remarkable every day: navigating two languages, two sets of vocabulary, two ways of expressing themselves. Around the World week deepens that awareness by helping children understand that the world is full of different ways of living, speaking, eating, and celebrating.
Our teaching team took the children on a different journey each day. They explored landmarks through art and play, tasted (or pretended to taste) foods from different parts of the world, learned greetings in multiple languages, and talked about what makes each culture unique and worth celebrating.
Spanish vocabulary expanded to include geography and culture words: país, continente, bandera, tradición, cultura. For children who are already growing up bilingual, learning that language itself is one of the most beautiful expressions of culture is a lesson that lands with real meaning.
Week three sent the tesoritos home with wider eyes and a little more of the world in their hearts.
