Character Development
Character Development is a core component of our program. Part of our mission is to teach and emphasize important skills to successfully navigate the ever-changing world that include, but are not limited to compassion, respect, empathy, love, and understanding. Our students receive a lesson every day that is focused on character development. This highly effective approach is proven to increase self-regulation, sense of safety, connection, empathy and intrinsic motivation in children. The lessons that are taught on a daily basis are age-appropriate and supported by over twenty five years of scientific research. In addition, families have access to social stories, activities, and much more through our parent communication portal which facilitate implementation of character development learning at home. We are excited to partner with our families and collaborate in the development of kind and loving children for our community!
We also partner with local agencies and charities to give back to the community. Children learn through example and by “doing”. Tesoro supports giving back in different forms of activities which include donating toiletries to a local charity; having our students draw pictures for those in poor health; making cookies for our local firefighters, and the list goes on. Community service is a core component of what we teach at Tesoro Preschool.
Lastly, taking care of a life teaches love, compassion and responsibility. Tesoro has a pet fish in every classroom. On a daily basis, a different student is given the responsibility to feed the fish. Children learn that a life needs love, time, and dedication.
