Walk into a Tesoro classroom this month and you will find a busy little world. One child pours pretend lemonade at a stand. Another checks in an astronaut at a space station. A third rings up groceries at a mercado. A fourth carefully styles hair at a peluquería.
These four dramatic play stations rotate every month, and we label each one in Spanish. That choice is on purpose. Children see and hear the Spanish words for real things while they are deep in play, and those words tend to stay.
Our favorite part happens far away from our classrooms. If your family stops by a real mercado this month, invite your Tesorito to ask for what they need in Spanish. The same thing happens when your child orders lemonade or asks for a haircut at a real peluquería. Suddenly a word from school belongs to your child’s actual life.
This is the heart of dual language learning at Tesoro. Spanish lives inside pretend play, monthly themes, and ordinary moments, until it becomes a language your child simply uses.
