This week at Tesoro Preschool, the ceiling became the sky and the sky had no limit.
The Space theme launched the Tesoritos into a week of planets, stars, astronauts, and the vast, beautiful mystery of the universe.
Space is one of those themes that captures children completely. The scale of it, the strangeness of it, the fact that there are real people who travel beyond our atmosphere for their job: all of it lands with genuine awe for a four-year-old. Our teaching team leaned into that awe and built a week of learning around it.
Children explored the planets of our solar system, learned about what astronauts do, created galaxy art using a variety of materials, and spent time in dramatic play as space explorers navigating the cosmos. Science conversations covered gravity, the moon, and what makes Earth different from every other planet we know of.
Spanish vocabulary reached for the stars: espacio, planeta, astronauta, cohete, galaxia, luna, gravedad. These are words that feel exciting to say, and the Tesoritos said them all week long.
Week five sent the Tesoritos home with their imaginations pointed somewhere far, far away, in the best possible way.
